Jan. 9, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Kiln Carving (1 Project) $40
Kiln Carving (1 project) In this class, you will make one project. Learn the technique of kiln carving fused glass: a process of embossing an image that has texture or sculptured look in glass. An image will be achieved by cutting and layering fiber paper. Patterns will be available for your use. Also, you are welcome to bring your own pattern. Your piece will be fired and ready for pick-up soon afterwards. No glass experience required. $40 includes all materials and tools. Feb. 27 10:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Make a Glass Dish $55 non-members
Make something different: a fused glass dish. Glass experience is not required. In this workshop, you will learn to cut glass, setup a design and prepare it for firing. All materials and tools are included. Must have ability to grip and work small hand tools like a hammer and pliers. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Your glass will be fired twice and ready for pick-up soon afterwards. Mar. 6 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Glass Garden Stake $70
A glass garden stake can freshen any yard or garden. In this workshop, you will create a fused glass panel, using sheet, crushed and other forms of glass in your design. The final piece will be framed in a wrought iron stake and will be ready for pick-up soon afterwards. No glass experience is required. Must be able to work with glass tools like a hammer and pliers. $70 includes all tools, materials and firings. Please wear closed-toe shoes. March 13 10:30-1:30 p.m Sgraffito with Frit a.k.a. Batik, $75
In Italian, “sgraffito” means “scratched off”. In this workshop we will use crushed glass a.k.a. frit to create a pattern. The result will be a batik design. Also, yu will have enough time to create two projects. Your pieces will then be fired and ready for pick-up soon afterwards. No glass or drawing experience required. All materials, tools and firing included. Bring your personal N95 face mask to prevent breathing in powdered glass. Mar. 20 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Glass Wind Chimes (Make N Take) $40 non-members
Wind-chimes make wonderful home and garden accents. For all within hearing distance, their melodic sound provides a calming effect and promote relaxation. In this workshop, you will follow simple steps to complete your Feng shui art. You will select a wind-chime kit, containing pre-cut, pre-drilled glass and beads. No glass experience required. Must be able to work with small beads. All materials and tools are included. If needed, bring eyeglasses.
